Silly Kingdom!! *Update*

My copy of Silly Kingdom just arrived! IT'S BEAUTIFUL!
First of all 'The Siblings Shanahan' sticker on the envelope means i've got to keep the parcel it came in. It's a cool little touch, let alone this is the first post i've ever had from Canada!
The cover of the book is better in real life, and i always get a weird sensation when holding something thats from the internet... like "Real life and internets just crossed over!".
SO as you can tell i'm already over the moon, and i haven't even opened the book yet!
... And it gets BETTER! Upon opening the book i found a bonanza of bonuses that i knew nothing about. I got a fully illustrated post card (that hilariously smells like coffee! and before anyone asks, i enjoy new book smell and that how i found out!) and the inside cover has been signed and doodled and dedicated to me by Katie and Shaggy (who knew his name was steven ?!)

Big fan of Shaggy's show, TTTC (Talking to the Camera) and thats how i found out about katies work on Shrub Monkeys (which is a great web comic!).
Can one person swoon, nay gush anymore over such a simple thing as a comic book?
Hell yes! I just started reading it and i'll let you know what i think

Wow! I was going to wait till later, but i've just finished reading silly kingdom and boy was it good! I mean really good. It's obvious to me (or any other aspiring animator) that katie knows what she is doing and applies alot of technique and body / facial expressions into every panel of this book! There wasn't a single character that wasn't reacting to both situation and other characters... and thats rare in comics. It feels like your watching an animatic and this really lends it's self to the story. Every panel feels necessary and tells you exactly what you need to know, spoken or not.
The writing has Shaggys stamp all over it and it's hard not to hear 'that voice' while reading it, especially when reading the narrator!
As for the story it's self... it's hilarious! I was actually laughing out loud through out reading this and seen as how shitty these last couple of months have been, it was very, VERY welcome!
Over all this book captures a sense of wonder from two people who put a hell of a lot of love into this book. I recommend you buy it and hopefully, the sequel as well!

Open Letter

Dear Credits after almost every TV animation made since 1986,
It's not a fucking race! Some of us want to know who did what and i dare say the people who worked long and hard just to be there, let alone do the fantastic job they're doing, would like to see there names for longer than a micro second.
Rant out of the way.... Merry New Year all. This year i resolve to draw more, go to more gigs and i'm in training for a local marathon. It's hard stuff but i'm getting better everyday.
